Opportunity 03:33
Wake up to a morning so listless Come to, sun is looming in Careless, glide on over my eyelids Show me opportunity Give it up like I did in my old days Shake it off cause I’m living in my own way Shake it off cause coming ‘round again Laying at your door Don’t stop, let the rhythm get faster Blindly as I stumble in Take the lead but my world is so backwards Can’t believe I’m at the start again Such a fake running way past the goal line Laugh it off cause I made that joke so many times Shake it off cause I’m coming ‘round again Laying at your door (Shaking it off) I never thought I’d be the last one (Shaking it off) Now every chance I had is gone (Shaking it off) (Shaking it off)
3.
Patience 03:52
Friends and where they live Something I could never give up Never skipping town Never growing up It’s embedded in my brain That things will never change The way it is, is the way things are So deal with it Like I’m dealing it to me The front seat of my helicopter’s free We could get so high We forget everything They forgot about us anyway You wanna shake it That’s the plot and you’ll never believe this But that’s all we’ve got in the end Can’t tell you I’m growing impatient I’m just having a little fun with it I’m just having a little fun now That’s my spotlight That’s my cool life That’s my baby Don’t it look nice
4.
Surprise 03:43
Sometimes I feel like a guilty pleasure Sometimes it don’t feel like pleasure at all Face in the air like I’m trying to fool ya What a surprise I’m just fooling myself Glued to my phone I’m just trying to hear ya Sweat on the glass burning holes in my hand I don’t wanna believe in a new communion Pour out the wine taste the blood in my breath Till I go and find out It’s so easy Turn and walk away from all the sadness Even if it feels too hard to handle I know it’s just a reason to let it fly Bending my will but the effort is wasted Hung up and dry just a tool in the shed Springing the trap cause it’s testing my patience What a surprise it was all in my head Going to Hell guess they killed me with kindness Drank all my time now I’m eating the chance Is a moment of truth such an inconvenience Peel off the rind bite the fruit in my hands Till I go and find out It’s so easy Turn and walk away from all the sadness Even if it feels too hard to handle I know it’s just a reason to let it fly
5.
Kept 03:30
I am giving you this I am giving you this, what I’m holding in my pocket Hold it like my weakened hands could keep it, really keep it I am giving you this Don’t you lose it Don’t you lose it now Even if I try sometimes to lose myself somehow I am telling you this I am telling you this like a juvenile in secret Confident and trusting you to keep it, really keep it I am telling you this Don’t you lose it Don’t you lose it now Even if I try sometimes to lose myself somehow

Intermission 04:13
7.
Pretty Boy 03:53
Stepping in, stepping right on through Same old shit, same old solitude But I won’t be too alone if I bring my horses And ride my freedom all the way back home Tell that pretty boy I wanna see him dance, dance away Look ahead, say I see me now Smiling at what used to stress me out Cause it won’t be too long, but I’ll take my time with it It won’t be too long till I come back home See that pretty boy I wanna see dance, dance away
8.
Piper 02:40
Spent the evening looking the mirror and tucking my shirt back in Play with my hair till I throw up both my hands, say “fuck it” and just give in You’re running again I recognize it from the last time Ooh, I think you’re running again Running again Cast a spell I’m talking to myself but I’m not really listening Open the door and stare into the face of a world that I can’t resist It’s always the same I recognize it from the last time Ooh, you know it’s always the same Always the same It’s always the same I recognize it from the last time Ooh, you know it’s always the same Always the same
9.
Full Hand 03:07
Slipping through my fingers Take another picture Guess at a new beginning Guess that should be the best of me Tell me ‘bout your weekend Climb into my clothing Trees reaching through the distance Throw it and see how far it lands Where’d I leave my halo? Where’d I hang my keys up? Where does the time escape through? Whose arms are there to run into? Tired of every evening Waiting for my moment Time to reveal my full hand
10.
Treasure 03:42
Hang it on my neck like a medal to be won, yeah Lift it on my back like I want it all Have it out, have it out till I’ve had enough Had enough whatever it is Hold it in my hands like a glass of champagne, yeah Lift it up in a toast to myself In the end, in the end is it anything? As I see it all spilling out My treasure too far to find I only want to listen My melody in the air I only want to listen
11.
Green Eyes 03:37
I never told you how it felt How could I? When every impulse in myself Would have me jumping roof to roof And hanging tied up and torn between the two Did you find peace? I know you worried about me And for that I can’t apologize If you could see me now you’d find There’s someone you wouldn’t even recognize I never told you what it meant As if I could even shake it down by then The sands are shifting all the time In the end somebody’s got to draw the line Was there no clue? Whatever happened to you And should I care if I lose a friend? Cause if you’re looking for some truth You’d see my green eyes ain’t looking back at you
12.
How 04:23
Is that me at the wheel on a highway on the earth Tryna speed but the traffic’s getting heavier Take it slow take it easy take it to the edge Not a joke, not a joke I just find it funny yeah Some voice from the upstairs calling down “Hey boys what do you hope for” Someday when the grass gets greener Look way up high then look way down, way down What a trip to confront the truth inside your heart Spilling out in the sunset glowing in the dark Fully honest, fully honest, fully honest with myself As I dive sideways and into the deep end till I drown Some voice from the dry land calling down “Hey boys what do you hope for” Someday when the sky gets bluer I’ll lift my hands and shout so loud, so loud

On his sophomore album, Full Hand, Indiana musician Kevin Krauter tackles complicated emotional states and ideas through elliptical songwriting that is at once poetic and truthful. “A lot of the lyrics touch on how I was raised religiously, touch on me understanding my sexuality more and more in recent years,” Krauter says, “just growing up and becoming more confident in myself...that process of looking inward and taking stock of myself.” It’s not especially uncommon for artists to probe deep into their own psyche to uncover what makes them tic, but Krauter’s light touch feels like something all his own. On the album’s first single, “Pretty Boy,” he sings, “Look ahead, say I see me now / Smiling at what used to stress me out / Cause it won’t be too long, but I’ll take my time with it / It won’t be too long till I come back home.” There’s a palpable sense of joy in Krauter’s acceptance of dire, stressful moments, and a liberation that comes from hearing him realize that the present will eventually be the past, and he’ll be able to look back and find peace.
